In the US, we commonly have three basic shifts, Day
shift, Swing shift and Graveyard shift. In California at
least, the law requires that each employeee be given 2
fifteen minutes breaks and 1 thirty minute lunch break
per 8 hour workday.
It is -very- common for these shifts to be divided like this:
Day shift: 7am - 3:30pm
Swing shift: 3pm - 11:30pm
Graveyard shift: 11pm - 7:30am
This creates a 1/2 hour overlap at all shift changes, and
also accounts for the 1/2 hour lunch break.
Even when Day shift begins at 6am or 8 am, the
Graveyard shift still carries across the midnight
boundary.
The phpSched program will not allow a Graveyard shift
to be properly added. It returns the error that a shift
should start before it ends.
This can be worked around by adding a shift that runs
from 11pm to 12am, then adding a shift the next day
that runs from 12am to 7:30am, but that's not a preferred
solution.

The Graveyard shift is present not only in California/US,
but all around the world... Same happens to me, and I too
have used that workaround...
Perhaps there could be something done in the software?
