hi, i've just installed phppgadmin 3.00 on my server and i experience a "light" trouble... I can connect with a "standard" user, but not with the user which is the postgres admin... is it normal ?... i have this error : Warning: pg_connect() [function.pg-connect <http://www.php.net/function.pg-connect>]: Unable to connect to PostgreSQL server: FATAL 1: Password authentication failed for user "my_pgsql_admin" . in /mypath/libraries/adodb/drivers/adodb-postgres64.inc.php on line 404 Any clues ? Hi all, As far as I understand phppgadmin doesn't support schema... is this correct? Okay to add this as feature request or will I get my head bitten off?! Cheers, Roger |

I have found one main issue with 7.3.x and phpPgAdmin... dumps of any kind. I beleive this is due to some system table changes that occured in the 7.3 releases. Any plans to upgrade this code? --- -Greg Militello programming @ Dyrect Media Group http://www.dyrectmedia.com |

I have phpPgAdmin running perfectly with 2 copies of PostgreSQL, one with 7.3, the other with 7.3.1. Both are linux boxes, but I'm also going to be installing another copy onto a sparc (E-420R, Solaris 2.8). What problems do you seem to be having with it? BTW, it's phpPgAdmin 2.4.2 that I'm using. Dear all, I just installed WebDB which looks very promissing. I would like to join = the=20 project if you need my help. My first impressions : 1) It is recommended to use require_once everywhere in=20 place of include_once, because require_once will cast an=20 error if the required file is not present.=20 =20 2) Also, the configuration file should be tested in index.html,=20 with file_exists(). If the file does not exist, please print a=20 message to explain that the user should copy the installation file.=20 =20 3) Last, the use of <? ?> and <?php ?> is not coherent. On my=20 RedHat 8.0 + Apache 2.0 + Php 4.2, <? ?> is not recognized=20 by http.conf. Of course, it can be configured, but for compatibility reas= ons=20 with code editors, <?php ?> should always be used.=20 4) File paths should be defined using constants like in ADODB with absolu= te=20 file paths. 5) I am quite worried about the melting of HTML + PHP code. There should = be a=20 way to build a complete object oriented interface, without visible HTML c= ode.=20 HTML code should be embedeed in PHP classes... Much cleaner and easier to= =20 maintain. 6) Why use a javascript tree class viewer? On my Linux box, Javascript is= =20 always disabled. Javascript can be replaced by PHP. So why not do it? It = used=20 to be the case in PhpPgAdmin. Great job and great idea to support several databases, this will help=20 migration to PostgreSQL. Cheers,=20 Jean-Michel POURE |

This is not an issue with PHP 4.2.3... it's an issue with Apache 2. Until PHP officially supports Apache 2, we will keep the code as is because we don't know what we will break in the final version of PHP that supports Apache 2. I'm at a loss... there is no reason it should not find that file if you have copied it and renamed it. But this issue is definitely in your php configuration. A few things to try: 1. Verify that the file is readable by the server. 2. Create a test PHP script and see if it can include a file in the same directory -Dan Quoting Brad Littlejohn <at...@us...>: > On Tue, Sep 10, 2002 at 10:41:29AM -0600, Dan Wilson wrote: > > For some reason it's not finding your config file. For some reason it's not finding your config file. The only reason I can see is that your include_path directive in your php.ini file does now include the current directory. It should look something like this: ".:/php/includes" The beginning dot tells it to check the current directory first. That's really the only reason I can see that it wouldn't work. Unless permissions are messed up on that file... but that looks correct as well. -Dan Quoting Brad Littlejoh <at...@us...>: > > Hey, everyone.. > > I'm having a bit of trouble setting up the latest version of > phpPgAdmin. Hey, everyone.. I'm having a bit of trouble setting up the latest version of phpPgAdmin. I swear I'm following everything by the book (well, Documentation.html), and I'm still getting the same error. This is corrected in development... Just one more type that we/I didn't know needed quoting (I'm sure there are plenty more). In order to fix it on your side, you should change line 46 in tbl_replace.php. You will find something link the following: if (eregi("char|date|bool|time|inet|text|cidr", $field_type[$key])) { This should be changed to include macaddr in the list of types that require quoting. So it should look like: if (eregi("char|date|bool|time|inet|text|cidr|macaddr", $field_type[$key])) { -Dan Quoting Matthew Wild <M....@rl...>: > > I have a table of MAC addresses and am using the type macaddr. Hello phppgadmin-users, When I access phppgadmin it opens up fine except there is nothing in the left frame at all. I have tried many deferent was of setting up the conf file but no mater what I do it just stays blank. My conf file looks the 1st conf below but I have also tried the 2nd conf No mater what I do it does not change the way I log in with the browser. With Adv_auth on it does not ask me for a username and password. It seams if the conf file is set wrong it should at least give me errors. I can access the postgress database with PHP using this pg_pconnect ("host=127.0.0.1 port=5901 dbname=eproperty user=eprop password=b0gu5"); So what is the problem with phppgadmin 1ST CONF $cfgServers[1]['local'] = true; $cfgServers[1]['host'] = '127.0.0.1'; $cfgServers[1]['port'] = '5901'; $cfgServers[1]['adv_auth'] = false; $cfgServer[1]['user'] = 'eprop'; // if you are not using adv_auth, enter the username to connect all the time $cfgServers[1]['password'] = 'b0gu5'; // if you are not using adv_auth and a password is required enter a password $cfgServers[1]['only_db'] = ''; // if set to a db-name, only this db is accessible 2ND CONF $cfgServers[1]['local'] = true; $cfgServers[1]['host'] = 'localhost'; $cfgServers[1]['port'] = '5901'; $cfgServers[1]['adv_auth'] = true; $cfgServers[1]['user'] = ''; // if you are not using adv_auth, enter the username to connect all the time $cfgServers[1]['password'] = ''; // if you are not using adv_auth and a password is required enter a password $cfgServers[1]['only_db'] = ''; // if set to a db-name, only this db is accessible -- Best regards, rdkurth mailto:rd...@st... |

This is an issue with Apache 2 and PHP. It's a problem with the way multiple cookies are written. Hopefully in the near future, we will have a patch or new minor release which will fix this issue with a work-around, but it's actually a bug in PHP working with Apache 2. -Dan Quoting Jean-Luc OMS <Jea...@li...>: > I've read about this problem .... but I can't find any solution working > for me. > > I use on a Solaris 8 host : > > - Apache 2.0.39 > - php 4.2.2 > > I get the same result at login with versions 2.4.2 / 2.4.1 / CVS tree > > If I don't use adv_auth, phpPgAdmin works fine. > > On my installation phpMyAdmin(2.3.0-rc4) works fine using the http > authentification mode .... > > Thanks for help > > > -- > > __________________________________________________________________________ > > Jean-Luc Oms tel 33 (0)4 67 41 85 93 > LIRMM fax 33 (0)4 67 41 85 00 > __________________________________________________________________________ |

I've read about this problem .... but I can't find any solution working for me. I use on a Solaris 8 host : - Apache 2.0.39 - php 4.2.2 I get the same result at login with versions 2.4.2 / 2.4.1 / CVS tree If I don't use adv_auth, phpPgAdmin works fine. On my installation phpMyAdmin(2.3.0-rc4) works fine using the http authentification mode .... Thanks for help -- __________________________________________________________________________ Jean-Luc Oms tel 33 (0)4 67 41 85 93 LIRMM fax 33 (0)4 67 41 85 00 __________________________________________________________________________ |

Because you have your $cfgServers[1]['local'] set to true, it looks for a local connection rather than the tcp/ip socket. If you want to use the tcp/ip socket then you should change your configuration in $PGDATA/postgresql.conf and then restart the postmaster. -Dan Quoting Markus Jais <mar...@ya...>: > On Mon, 2002-08-05 at 22:24, Dan Wilson wrote: > > This error could also indicate that your installation of postgresql is not > > configured correctly. This error could also indicate that your installation of postgresql is not configured correctly. There are a couple different possibilities here: 1. You are not accepting connections through TCP/IP. Remove the localhost setting in your 'host'. 2. Your postgres user requires a password. Login through psql and issue the command: ALTER USER "postgres" WITH PASSWORD '[enter_your_password]'; For more information on this command, check goto: http://www.us.postgresql.org/users-lounge/docs/7.2/postgres/sql-alteruser.html Try those two options and if that doesn't work, we can look at a couple other things. -Dan Quoting Markus Jais <mar...@ya...>: > hello > > I have a problem with phpPgAdmin_2-4-2 > > my config file looks like this: > > $cfgServers[1]['local'] = true; > $cfgServers[1]['host'] = 'localhost'; > $cfgServers[1]['port'] = '5432'; > $cfgServers[1]['adv_auth'] = true; > > $cfgServers[1]['user'] = ''; // if you are not using > adv_auth, enter the username to connect all the time > $cfgServers[1]['password'] = ''; // if you are not using > adv_auth and a password is required enter a password > $cfgServers[1]['only_db'] = ''; // if set to a db-name, only > this db is accessible > > > when I set adv_auth to false and enter "postgres" as a user name > and no passwd I get this error > > Error - /var/www/html/phpPgAdmin/lib.inc.php -- Line: 303 > > PostgreSQL said: > Your query: > Unable to connect with settings: host='localhost' port='5432' > dbname='template1' user='postgres' password='' > > > do I have to set an postgres password? > I read that I can set this in pg_shadow table but I can not find > this table within psql > > what I am doing wrong ?? > I have > postgresql-7.2.1 > php 4.2.1 > RedHat 7.3 > phpPgAdmin_2-4-2 > > markus > > > __________________________________________________________________ > > Gesendet von Yahoo!
