The following forum message was posted by vapnjeff at http://sourceforge.net/projects/phppgadmin/forums/forum/115883/topic/4733660: Okay... I'm using an old G4 mac that I got my hands on so it's PPC and running Mac OS X 10.4.11 If you're familiar with this you'll know that the stock Apache (1.3) and PHP (4.?) will not run phppgadmin. The main problem best I can tell is that I needed PHP 5. I installed Macports and I was able to get things upgraded to Apache 2 and PHP 5.3.8. I placed the phppgadmin folder in the root directory I'm using for the new apache 2 server...... and I can see it.... but when I go to localhost/phppgadmin or even to localhost/phppgadmin/index.php I get this same error: "Your PHP installation does not support PostgreSQL. You need to recompile PHP using the --with-pgsql configure option." Please bear in mind that I'm a freaking virgin when it comes to working in the terminal. I've farted around with as many of the settings as I could with the php.ini and httpd.conf files but to no avail. Can't seem to find a trick to getting this working. I now understand that using "make" and "make install" have something to do with being able to recompile PHP or anything else for that matter. I've also got Xcode 2.5 installed but I don't have a clue where to start there either. Does anyone know if there are a step by step instructions on how I can get pgsql installed properly with PHP? I've been searching and searching the net like crazy and not having much luck. I am pretty good in phpmyadmin but Xtuple, the open source ERP program I'm trying to import data into doesn't work with mysql.... and God only knows why... the default database admin.... PgAdmin III..... doesn't give you crap for being able to look at an existing set of tables, let along import or export data beyond just doing a backup. It sucks really. Anyway, if anyone feels the urge to take some pity on me and give me a little direction so that I might finally be able to get phpPGadmin up and running.... I'd greatly appreciate your help. Thank you, Jeffrey |
