First Beta for Release 1.0

phpOrganisation release 1.0 is on its way! This is a feature complete version of the application with a number of new features, better security and fewer bugs.

The new release has these new features:

* bank statement reconciliation
* a user manager
* user configurable VAT rates
* user configurable currency symbol
* improved search facility
* a popularity rating for contacts, so that your most frequently
searched for/edited/noted contacts show up at the top of the list
* time based view of the longer lists, for example you can see the last
2 months worth of purchase orders, or the last 4 months or the last
year.
* Miscellaneous transactions, so that you can enter all the transactions
that you make into phpO (this was required for bank statement
reconciliation)
* An admin guide (needs updating before full 1.0 release) Thanks to Iain
Roberts for this.
* Register an hourly cost for each employee so that projects and contracts can display a total time cost, as well as total hours worked (which is now split up into hours per user).
* The ability to register an invoice against a project or contract, so that the total cost of a project can be tracked - a combination of items purchased and time worked.

phporg.net site down

The phporg wiki at www.phporg.net has been down for a few days. This is due to moving ISPs. We hope to have it back online soon.

Alpha Release Series for Release 0.6

We're going to start making some pre-releases of the 0.6 version of phpO. This version when finished will incorporate bank statement reconciliation along with numerous other improvements.

The first pre-release (Release 0.6-alpha1) has a new menu system, a remittance advice feature and most of the bank statement feature already available.

Release 0.5.2

The new release adds some reporting features, and a couple of bug fixes, but it's quite important to upgrade to this release - 0.5.1 (and possible 0.5) introduced a flawed piece of logic relating to issuing invoices; the 'number' field in the 'invoice_items' table was changed to a FLOAT. This is not a good idea and so it is back (for ever) to being an INT.

Release 0.5.1

Many new features in this latest release of the free software accountancy package aimed at UK small businesses. Many significant improvements since Release 0.5, with cool looking new invoices and statements, a better navigation system and improved architecture.

Purchase orders

I've added a better system for displaying purchase orders. The last 4 weeks worth are now displayed, with the option to look back various time periods (1 week, 1 month, etc).

Also quashed some bugs with the recording of cheque numbers in the purchase order payment recording feature.

New VAT Reporting feature

phpOrganisation will now report on VAT returns for arbitrary periods. This feature is in CVS and will feature in the next release.

phpOrganisation now complete and in use.

phpOrganisation has been created from an in-house database accounting application. It has been re-written for clarity of code and extensibility, using smarty templates. With release 0.2, phpOrganisation has been beta tested as is in use by Hypercube Systems Ltd. and will soon be in use with Geomonitoring Services Ltd.
