have followed procedure but got this message right after step 1 of the installation.

error connecting to the database

PhpMyAdmin functions great

MySql/Apache/PHP runiing on Win 32 (yeah install Linux:)

  Not sure if you still need help or not but I think I can help!
  
  I had same problem, (yes i am on win32 system as well), if you are sure your .htaccess is allowing write access, then the main problem (which I forget) is that setup wants NO password for your data base (even if you know it) and root as your user name! If it is on your machine then leave host as localhost!

    Hello,
    I have PHP Version 5.0.4 on my server.
    I have tried to install phpopenchat 3.0.2. Import the db.
    test.php is fine.
    Also, completed all the 4 steps successfully of install.php
    
    But still i got error
    at /home/jyoti/public_html/pchat/include/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysql.inc.php:521
    [2048] var: Deprecated. Please use the public/private/protected modifiers
    
    Could not connect to database! Please check your database setup in config.inc.php by using the POC Installer!
    
    Please anybody help me???
