After Installation can't log in a Operator

Installed version 3.0 from what seems successfully. Running PHP 4.2.2 with Apache 2.0 and MySQL 4.0.18 on Linux RH 9.0. Error I get after trying to log in with Operator is:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/www/html/chat/include/class.Chatter.inc on line 1910

Had problems earlier when trying to register new users, but that was solved by removing the install.php. Please HELP!

  Further noting, that I can log in anonymously and the chat works fine, just can't login as operator or any user with any password.
