#427 Installation error

I'm getting the following error during the installation (Step 2).

[2] mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (46)

I use yahoo webhosting at this time and I'm thinking that is the problem from the word go. I'm not really sure how to get things started, so if someone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it.
