Running PHPNuke on Linux 7.1

Have correctly populated the nuke database from nuke.sql

When attaching to PHPNuke admin.php or index.php get error "Undefined function mysql_pconnect() in line 23"

User and password correct in config.php

Can anybody help me set this up?
