The goals for the project are modest: to create a stable, secure, and up to date version of the existing software package. That means we are not looking to add new features, but only to focus on making the features that are already there work reliably. Specifically, we want the program:
- To install the first time, and every time, correctly and on as many platforms as possible.
- To work as expected on any version of PHP and MySql since 4, and therefore to be continually up to date not only as to these two programs but as to any of the programs already incorporated into the package
- To be stable and secure
- To be well documented for end users
However, the decision to forego new features does not include new design, graphics, css, or languages. These would be most welcome contributions.
This project has been orphaned for a long time, and I know there are lots of tweaks out there ‘in the wild’. I am asking those of you who have found ways to improve and stabilize the software to bring them into the process so all can benefit. That is the point of open source, after all.
