I'm not sure if it's okay to post this here (I'm guessing if not, this message
will be deleted), but I've created a User's Manual for phpMyChat-Plus (1.93)
that includes instructions for installing the chat (or at least gives a
detailed, step-by-step account of everything I had to do to get it working on
my site), as well as tips for customizing the chat.
The Manual doesn't cover everything, just the things I've had to figure out
for use on my own site (meaning if I haven't had to mess with it, it isn't in
the Manual).
I originally created the Manual for my own personal reference, but after
seeing some of the requests for help on these forums, I decided it might be
useful to others, as well.
I would like to note, however, that:
1) I'm not a programmer, so take what I say with a grain of salt and test for
yourself.
2) I haven't consulted with Ciprian about any of this, so if he says something
different, listen to him, not me.
I have no plans for ongoing updates, and as I said, I'm not working with
Ciprian, so when/if a newer version comes out, this manual may become
obsolete. However, if you would like to add anything to the Manual, I can
e-mail you the original Word file so you can use it as a base to start your
own Help file (I will also consider adding notes/tips and posting the revised
version to the URL listed below when I have the time).
The manual is 36 pages long and is hosted on my domain in a PDF file (1.08MB):
And if it is, please save the PDF to your computer rather than repeatedly
accessing it on my site, so I can save some bandwidth. (If I find I'm
expending too much bandwidth for the file, I'll place it in a .zip file to
force downloading.)
Take care,
Kodi

We definitely appreciate your efforts and yes, it was a great idea! I've asked
for years for such an initiative from our users, as well as I asked for
suggestions of improvements of my Readme. You're the first one to actually
contribute and I personally thank you very much, I'm sure many people will do
the same!
All the best,
Ciprian M.

Oh man, before this, I was completely clueless about what to do as far as
changing anything in the script. After looking through it, I actually managed
to make some changes (nothing too big, and I still haven't uploaded them out
of fear of messing something up). The section on making different skins was
especially helpful! Most of the code on the skins page no longer looks like
gibberish to me.

Hey kidiwolf, you look the right person to develop a perfect skin template for
people to use.
I've tried myself doing so that's how skinX.php come up, trying to have the
user change just a few colour codes in order to accomplish this, but it needs
some more finetuning.
Can you please jump into this and finetune the default skin files and get a
better/easier template?
I can also send you the latest developing phpMyChat-Plus 1.94-B6
(http://ciprianmp.com/plus) with several new
features, so you might like to update the manual?
If you're willing to work with me on this, please drop me a direct email
providing an email address where I can contact you (other than sourceforge,
which doesn't allow attachments).
Thanks.
Ciprian M.
