Background color in main chat window

Several of my users have complained that the background color of the main chat display window is making the text unviewable.  My guess is that both the text and background color is the same colors and thus the text is there, but not viewable unless you swipe the mouse (mousedrag) over the text.  I've not been able to replicate the problem.

Has anyone else seen this behavior or is there a fix?  I'm running version 0.14.2.

    Thanks.

      Hi Peter!

Can you please specify which release of phpMyChat you are using and the browser that use your "complaining users"? ;)

We've never been told about such a problem yet, and I neither can replicate it. Strange...

Have you customized the backgroud color for the 'messages' frame? And in this case is the default message color the same one than the background color ?

      Regards,

        Loic,

As I mentioned in the posting, I'm running 0.14.2.

I'll check on the operating system and browser flavor the users have...

From one of the people who is having this problem:

I can't seem to access the chat room on either my Mac's or my PC.

For the Mac I use the Mac OS 9.6 and Internet Explorer.

For the PC, I think it's Windows 98 and Internet Explorer.

Same problem with both -- background's white. On the PC I can see what I type in the line for typing, but it doesn't appear in the window. On the Mac, I don't even think I can see what I'm trying to type.

          Hi Peter!

Oups sorry for the release number of phpMyChat...

About IE5 for Mac, there are some bugs we can't manage to fix. And we're not the only ones: I've tried many, many things some monthes ago with the author of another chat but we never reached the beginning of a solution.
Maybe the 0.15 release we're working on will help but not sure at all.

About IE for windows that's a bit more surpising because I develop the chat under win98SE + IE5.5, IE5.01, IE5.0 and never faced this problem.
Do you know which IE version is concerned?

BTW can you send me the url to your chat please so I can have a look at it?

          Regards,

            The URL is: http://e115021.vtacs.com/phpMyChat

I'll try to check it from my school's machines and see what I can find under Mac and Windows IE.  I'm not sure the user knows how to determine IE's version number.

We really like this chat room software, but if I can't fix the issues, we might look for another solution. :-(

About the Mac problem, the release 0.14.3 (at beta stage yet) might help a bit : there were an invalid header according to the RFCs in the 0.14.2 release. But I'm not really sure this was the cause of the problem!
Actually what we have diagnose is that the forms aren't posted the way they should with IE5 for Mac and then PHP can grab them :(
A way to fix this would be to to use the 'GET' method with the forms but it's less secure and leads to limit again the size of messages.

I've just done a test at your chat with my IE5.5 (win98SE) and can't face the bug.
              Strange!
