    INTRO:

    • years ago tried phpMyChat via Fantastico
    • enjoyed it, simple, easy
    • but no real use for it for this situation
    • recently realized possible use for this situation and installed it manually (no Fantastico, but still easy and user-friendly)

    PROBLEM:

    • no chat logs written
    • not in public folder for users, not in admin folder for admin logs
    • only via admin panel
    • would like be inform "clients" of where the log will be able to be retrieved from

    QUESTION:

    • wtf? where's the log files? :)

    Well, dear anon,

    FIRST:

    • there are 2 major different versions out there:
    • one standard
    • one so called "Plus"
    • the std version has no trace or shadows of logs in it
    • the + version has both public and admin logs, unless the admin disables them from configuration tab
      SECOND:

    • in order to have the smallest clue of what are you talking about, we expect in the feedbacks/reports at least:
    • the version you're currently using
      or

    • the url to your chat for seeing it in action
      or

    • thanks (lol)

    SO ANSWER:

    • can you please just reset and start again? :)

    Version: phpMyChat-Plus_1.93_full.zip

Reset: perhaps in the future, something else came up

Compliments: Thank you for great freeware and a quick reply

    ciprianmp,

Thank you again, but in all honesty, i just don't really about this specific
    problem anymore right now.

Asking a "client" to be bothered to hit a folder and download a log file isn't
really another mile i'd like to take off any inches gotten.

For this specific situation, might be better to just CC email the log so that
both sides will have a time-stamped Carbon Copy.

    Appreciate the tech support though.

Well, it's your call how you do it, but please be aware that the admin logs
contain the complete logs, including private rooms talks, private messages
between people and so on. I don't really believe you want to send that to a
specific client, unless it's someone you really trust, although there will
    still be a privacy infrigement...

But as I said, it's your call.

PS: I'm still in doubt if you're talking about archive logs or lurking
(current conversations in chat). And the purpose of emailing someone a log
file while it's already in the chat. The archive logs opened on a different
location that inside chat will have display/text issues (no smilies, no system
    text... aso).

    Can't find:

    • public file in the logs folder
    • "hard to guess name" admin folder

    Can Find

    • login as admin, enter admin panel, click on 'extra'

    I'm done though.

Appreciate the great freeware, glad phpMYChat is still going from the
Fantastico days, thank you for the fast tech support.

    Enjoy your Easter.
