#116 Backup-files are empty

When using phpmybackuppro 2.3 (php 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.4 / mysql 5.5.24-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 ) empty backup files are created.
I can't put on safe_mode as sugested in an older forum thread here, because it is deprecated in php 5.3 and will be completely removed in 5.4.

What can I do?
