Can you enlighten me about the php modules needed to run your backup program? I am little new to linux and I see a ton of php packages I could install, but don't want to install more than is needed.

  I think you don't need special modules.
  ftp, gzip functions make phpMyBackupPro more comfortable but are not needed.
