#704 Wrong count of lines

Sorry I don't really speak english. However I will try
to be understandable.

With this query :
SELECT DISTINCT b.i,e.i FROM b LEFT JOIN e ON b.i=e.i

then count of lines reported by phpmyadmin is wrong.
In facts, lines with NULL content added by MySQL for
the e table (when no corresponding value in b table) in
the answer seem not taken in count.

As consequence, one can't view the whole result's list
in certain cases (paging depending).

Workaround : view all lines in only one page.

Etienne Durup

    Etienne,
    Here is a small test case:

    CREATE TABLE `b` (
    `i` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
    `autre` varchar(20) collate latin1_general_ci NOT NULL
    default '',
    PRIMARY KEY (`i`)
    ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1
    COLLATE=latin1_general_ci;

    INSERT INTO `b` VALUES (1, 'aaa');
    INSERT INTO `b` VALUES (2, 'bbb');

    CREATE TABLE `e` (
    `i` int(11) NOT NULL default '0',
    `autre` varchar(25) collate latin1_general_ci NOT NULL
    default '',
    PRIMARY KEY (`i`)
    ) ENGINE=MyISAM DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1
    COLLATE=latin1_general_ci;

    INSERT INTO `e` VALUES (1, 'aaaaaaaaaa');
    INSERT INTO `e` VALUES (3, 'cccccc');
    -----------
    With this test case, I get 2 rows in the results, and a
    reported count of 2.

    Please attach here your test case so I can see the problem.
