#849 (in 2.7.0) Recommended Server Parameters

Utilities (45)

On the runtime information page, it would be good
if there was a wizard page with suggestions for tuning
server parameters.

most settings can only be set by trial!

you can 'calculate' how effective current settings are
(after some runtime!), but you can not calculate how
    effectiv new settings will be!

f.e. MySQL does report how aften a cache failed (caused by
too small) but MySQL says not how much different cache
entries failed - so 1000 fails can be from only one missing
cache entry or from 500 different cache entries - so you can
not calculate if cache hit rate would be optimal with 100
KiB larger or with 10 Mib larger cache size.

But at least it could highlight critical parameters in red
    where changes are recommended.
(e.g. Try to make the cache bigger etc...)

It could also come up with rought estimates or thumb rules,
e.g. make cache A at least as big as the biggest table

It could also try to make assumptions on the number of
users and the proportion of reads/writes.

I think any additional comments or warning messages would
    be really helpful!
