#826 (in 2.7.1) Column comments - make editable / more visible

PhpMyAdmin now has basic support for column comments,
which is very welcome:

However, this only extends to readability when
listing the data dictionary (in db_datadict.php ).

Given that MySQL 4.1 now supports native column
comments, it would be very useful indeed to be able
to add/edit these directly in MySQL.

1) It would certainly be good to show them when
listing the table properties:

2) However, more importantly, the ability to create
the comments in the first place, in

3) and when editing column names, as in tbl_alter.php

Comments seem to be very much the same as any other
of the metadata (like NULL,Extra,Default, etc)
associated with a column, so presumably the code need
not be too difficult to introduce.

I for one would find this an extremely useful
addition to PhpMyAdmin.

You can currently edit them, however only when internal
    relation/comment stuff is enabled.

MySQL 4.1 -style native comments you mean? Excellent -
thank you very much indeed for the quick response and
    implementation of this.

The infrastructure was already there, only it was not used
    in all cases.

What release will this useful fix make it into? I see 2.7.0
final hasn't included it, as far as I can see (or at least,
having downloaded it, I see no change).

It will be in 2.7.1, see summary :-). It was too late to
    include this in 2.7.0.

I was really missing this functionality that the
    mysql-query-browser was implementing!
Personally I use field comments as my web forms labels and I
    find this very convenient.

I was about to send a feature request when I found this post.
It seems that I'm not the only one wanting such a feature!...

    Thanks everybody :-)
