MySQL (at least 5.x) has support for storing additional
user information in mysql.user_info table. It should be
possible to read and modify these values from
privileges page.

Information that can be stored in that table:

- Full name
- Description
- Email
- Contact information
- Icon (BLOB)

Okay, I was wrong. This table is created by MySQL
Administrator and used by it.

However we can still support this.

If anything, this information could very well be stored in the pma database (at worse) or pma could create the table in the mysql database if it doesn't exist (respecting the same structure as the one created by MySQL Administrator).

For a MySQL server admin, having those details about user accounts is crucial. The lack of it means we have to keep track of those accounts somewhere else (i.e. in an Excel Spreadsheet) or create our own custom MySQL user manager.

Pma being what it is, it SHOULD do that already. I'm very surprised that it hasn't been done before. For this reason, I think it should be prioritized as a new feature.

All what is needed is to add edit boxes for mentioned fields in privileges page (server_privileges.php) while editing/creating user.

I had not seen some people were trying to work on this feature and then I started to dedicated myself for it. So I'd like to join the conversation.

Anyway, I have a doubt: do you think we should allow the user to upload an image and store it in the Database? There are some discussions about security, efficiency etc

We could use the upload directory to store it. What do you t guys think?

This feature has not been implemented. As Michal mentions, there was an attempt which was not accepted.

Reported bug when using user_info table to support hosts can be located at [1]
Problem explained in this bug description affects requested feature.
note that this bug is resolved as a "won't fix"

If this feature is going to be implemented we can follow "Suggested fix:" for given bug as is, or create a new table in PMA data base to hold additional information.
