I love the current export functionality - works perfect
every time (for me at least).. what would be really
helpful in the end would be an export feature that would
allow you to transform/translate the field names & table
names in the exported information...
For example: I'm migrating data from one database into
another, but the field names are different and the table
names are different.
So I could check an option like "translate data output"
and then a DHTML frame would display showing the
current field & table names with a handy ---> and then a
text box..
e.g.
[] Translate Column or Table Names:
[] Old Table 1 Name ---> [___________]
- Old Column 1 Name ---> [___________]
- Old Column 2 Name ---> [___________]
[] Old Table 2 Name ---> [___________]
- Old Column 1 Name ---> [___________]
- Old Column 2 Name ---> [___________]
where the checkbox in front of a table name could be
used to indicate if that is included in the transformation
(could be optional vs. having to check for input all the
way).
This would greatly enhance the handiness of
phpmyadmin and just be plain ole cool.
Thanks!
Hi, I would love to work on this feature. The feature seems to be very useful because many a times such scenarios arises for db administrator.
Can I work on it in GSOC-2014..??
Just drop an email at my-email if you need to discuss anything in specific.
[ Btw I am new to open source projects and really don't know what the above comment means, so forgive me if I am asking something silly...:) ]

Dhananjay,
this feature request is part of a collection of ideas that will be implemented by a student in GSoC 2014. There will be an organization selection process, followed by a student selection process. For now, I refer you to http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2014, there is a FAQ section.
Implemented with https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/commit/5765c05cfe41bf9a9e137abeb8806b68260cddad
