#1559 (ok 4.5) Page-related settings

We have a centralized Settings page with sub-pages. This feature adds a way to quickly reach the settings related to a feature, on this feature's page. Maybe just a subset of these settings could be shown.

There are also other ways to set options. In Browse, we have Options, and other remembered settings like column visibility, column sorting and order of display. I am not sure if these mechanisms should be integrated or not to the new way.

Can you elaborate a bit more about what actually you have in your mind?

Are you trying to say that instead of( or in addition to ) having a centralized page for a subset of settings related to various features( like import, export, sql etc), we add a shortcut way to these settings on their respective pages themselves? Like sql settings in sql tab, import settings in import etc.?

I wrote "this feature adds a way", so it's in addition to the current centralized page. You understood what I was "trying to say".

I think this feature is quite big and would involve long implementatino design. I have some ideas in my mind. Should I include it in my proposal for GSOC 2015?

As you can see above, this feature is assigned to me because I'll most likely be mentoring it for GSoC 2015. It also has the GSoC 2015 label so it's definitely booked for GSoC.

I only want to add the implementation design that i would like to propose
in my proposal. I know it is for gsoc 2015, hence will be implemented then
only.

If i cannot add it to my proposal,how can i show in my proposal that i am
willing to work on it?

Please forgive me if i am embarassing you by any stupid questions of mine, but am asking because my proposal is nearly ready and i may have to make
huge changes according to your reply.

In the wiki's ideas list, the idea "User interface improvements" contains five tasks and "Page-related settings" is one of them. Therefore, if you wish to make a proposal on "User interface improvements", we expect to see in the proposal some implementation details regarding these tasks, including "Page-related settings".
