When using a controlhost which isn't the same as the server you're connecting to, the mysql_version on the index is the version of the controlhost and not the version of the database you're connecting to.

Example:
Controlhost = localhost = 5.5.32-0ubuntu0.12.04.1-log
Server i'm connecting to = remote host = 5.6.13-rc60.5 Percona Server
Index.php displays 5.5.32-0ubuntu0.12.04.1-log instead of 5.6.13-rc60.5 Percona Server
