I thought we settled to use the phplib repository for development and the phplib-stable only for really stable stuff. But okay, since the dev-snapshot is actually quite stable, at least for my conditions here, one might be able to live with it and seen at the history of all the files and the order in the phplib-stable tree (in comparison to the overcrowded phplib tree) it's a good thing to do so. Only that it surprised me that nowhere was explicitely noticed that one should go for the stable tree. Sorry to bother this list with this topic. Perhaps I am just too picky. Marko |

Marko, I think "we" pretty much decided by consensus among those who participated that the php-lib-stable tree was where all releases would come from, and that the current php-lib tree was far too full of unknowns to be usable. Phplib developers can get ideas from things in php-lib, but I also believe the consensus was that we needed to start a new development tree once we had a real release (not a beta) from the -stable tree. The CVS tress are definitely in need of cleaning and organizing. -- ..chris |

Yes, I remember the discussion. > Phplib developers can get ideas from things in php-lib, but I also believe > the consensus was that we needed to start a new development tree once we > had a real release (not a beta) from the -stable tree. Yes, I know as well, I think I was one of the first who asked to take the snapshot into CVS to have a better control of what is going on, though I am definitely not a phplib-developer. The ONLY thing which made me nervous was that the announcing post from Joe which started this thread didn't give that information that one has to use phplib-stable. Someone reading only that post, who didn't follow the list and wouldn't know about the final decision to use the stable tree, would probably try to get the sources from phplib (the developer tree). Don't you think? That's all what I wanted to note. OK, I better stop spamming everybody on this list with my useless remarks about this. I don't want to blame anybody for something! I found the sources myself, understood why it had to be done this way to keep everything consistent, since that's what was the intention: to get rid of this uncomfortable snapshots. If nobody else was irritated than I shut up anyway. Never mind. I think we are all happy that phplib develops and got more alive during the past year. Good to see that finally CVS keeps control over the sources again. Marko |

Don't > you think? Marko, Sorry I misunderstood your question. Yes, I agree with you. It should be made as clear as possible which tree to use. I'll see if I can add a note someplace to the web site to make it clearer, as well. Thanks, -- ..chris |
