IMHO actual phplib auth is correct and don't have all problems that
you describe. If you want to mantain another auth mantain it by
yourself. And who want to migrate to phpauth or whatever is free to do
this.

Don't touch phplib auth.inc.

It probably works fine, but IMHO it is very dirty coded.
