Can you elucidate on this a bit?  I'm sure I could figure it out what you
mean with a bunch of fooling around.  But after thinking about it for a
couple minutes, it's not clear to me what your method is.  I do understand
your goal, and agree it's probably the preferred way of doing things
nowadays.
