Hey all. I was browsing the list archives and noticed the thread about PHPix2 going away. :-( I'm sorry to hear it. I've installed and played with different versions of it and was generally impressed with the design and engineering. If you're thinking about recommending another project to potential users, may I suggest that you take a look at Gallery? http://gallery.sourceforge.net Gallery's philosophy is somewhat different than PHPix2, but I think it's a very good product. I'm the founder and main developer, so I'm somewhat biased. See for yourself and make up your own mind. Gallery is a very active project and is in widespread use with over 13K installs out of 145K+ downloads). It works inside PostNuke and PHP-Nuke. Folks have written wrappers to integrate it into PhpBB2 and Geeklog also. Gallery 1 (the current version) is release quality, but is really just a prototype. Now that we understand what our users actually want we're in the process of rebuilding the product from the ground up including using a real database, a template engine, the ability to store metadata of your choice, easily embed it into other applications like PostNuke, external authentication, etc. regards, -Bharat |
