(on RH6.1, PHP 4.0.1)

i've tried setting PHPix-1.0.2 up on two different redhat machines...on both when looking at the index, i get:

Warning: 1 is not a valid Directory resource in /home/darrell/public_html/phpix/index.php on line 29

Warning: 1 is not a valid Directory resource in /home/darrell/public_html/phpix/index.php on line 40

but sometimes it seems to work perfectly (!)

again, clicking into a particular album usually gievs me:

Warning: 1 is not a valid Directory resource in /home/darrell/public_html/phpix/index.phtml on line 50

Warning: 1 is not a valid Directory resource in /home/darrell/public_html/phpix/index.phtml on line 58

Warning: 1 is not a valid Directory resource in /home/darrell/public_html/phpix/index.phtml on line 59

can anyone help?
