Before I used php, I used cgi and used YaBB. The phpBB modification reminded me of this forum and the thought to make a modification for it came to mind as well.

What does this modification do exactly?
*Uses username of logged in user for nickname.
*If not logged the nickname is PHPIRC-rand(0,1000).
*Auto join a channel, or channels.
*Forced valid username to use PHP:IRC applet. (If set to do so in PHP:IRC - Applet config and in PHP:IRC - YaBB settings.)
Important News:
Next update to the PHP:IRC applet will be in the suite. The suite will have a combined update of the applet, admin screen, phpBB modification, YaBB modification, and the first release of the eggdrop package.
The admin screen will tie into the communities login codes.
The applet will have updates dealing with the new YaBB modification to have the same abailities as phpBB for requiring a valid session.
The phpBB modification will have updates for the admin button, admin controls, and IP ban import support of PHP:IRC.
The YaBB modification will have updates for the admin button and admin controls of PHP:IRC.
The eggdrop type bot will be very simple, it will work that is about it but you will get a very clear picture of how things will work.
The suite will also make use of the fact the packages are as a group and share the same resource files to save on space needed and make life easier on people installing everything.
Many long needed cleanups will also be done. More comments will be added to large parts of the files. Stuff not matching the coding standard will be adjusted to fit to the standard.
http://phpirc.sourceforge.net will have more details on the suite for PHP:IRC and detailed help.
