Hi,

I have configured our DNS servers and enabled reverse DNS in phpipam settings. However, after scanning a subnet and finding active hosts, the hostnames are not resolved. I am running tcpdump on the phpipam server and I don't see any outgoing DNS traffic when I run a subnet scan. Is there another setting I am missing?

Thanks

Hi, phpipam will check reverse records against nameservers defined for this subnet. If nameservers are not set it will make query to nameservers defined in resolve.conf, php default. No need to enable DNS resolving in settings, this is to check for DNS records when subnet loads.

Same thing goes if you edit IP address and hostname is empty, by clicking on "resolve dns" at the end of hostname field.

Stupid mistake by me -- I had put the DNS hostnames instead of IP addresses in the nameserver settings. It's resolving hostnames now. Thanks
