I'm using the latest version available from the web site. I've combined some of the features of a package called IP Hawk into phpip so hawk pulls all the configured networks from phpip and performs a ping sweep on them and updates the phpip database with forward/reverse DNS entries as well as lastping times. I've also updated the search to add the DNS db field as a search criteria. The last one is the one I'm having issues with. I changed the way the IP display tree is built since it didn't scale well with our large network. I added another table to the DB with a site string and network definition being the first 2 quartets from their site IP. Networks are then populated in the tree below their appropriate site. Without this, all the networks end up being at the root level of the tree and difficult to wade through. I configured it with a work around but that didn't work that great either. This update works fine except that there is a difference with Firefox and IE. Firefox works perfectly. When you choose a particular network prefix for display, IE will lose its brains and collapse the IP tree back to the root level. Functionality does work aside from this but it is extremely annoying. I haven't packaged any of this up but do have the files. Hello, Is anyone still on this list and using Phpip? I've noticed that there hasn't been any mail list action in quite a long time. In any case, we've been using the tool in our organization for a while and I've made a number of updates that have been pretty useful and would like to feed them back to the community if anyone is interested. I have an additional update that I need some help with as it works perfectly on Firefox but has a minor but annoying issue on IE. If you're interested or have any help to offer, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks, Ron |

Hi M, The use of groups documentation should be re-written, it was quick and short for the time. When using groups you have to define the list of allowed networks to modify or view to each defined group. The administrator has full rights to modify or view all networks. I've just started using phpip and so far it's been great. I'm currently running version 4.3.2, and I've run into two seperate issues that I'm hoping someone can help me clear-up. The first question I have relates to user the user access levels. The documentation says an "operator" can only display and edit IP objects. The problem I'm having is when I login as a user with "operator" rights, no subnets are displayed at all on the left-hand side to be viewed or edited. The other issue I'm having is with the search function. It's not returning any results. I noticed a previous user reported the same problem but I did see where anyone had posted the resolution. Thanks for the assistance, M |

Hi Bill, Can you post screen shots before and after? Please add the follow @ line number 268 right before the $listSearch = mysql_query. Are you using groups (http://www.phpip.net/documentation/chapter-9/)? echo "SELECT * FROM `addresses` WHERE $filter and `groupid` = '$_SESSION[groupid]'"; This will echo out the sql statement being used within the search function. Example output: SELECT * FROM `addresses` WHERE ( (ip LIKE "%192%") ) and `groupid` = '1' Michael Earls http://www.vermeer.org <http://www.vermeer.org/> http://www.vermeer.org/pgp http://www.phpip.net <http://www.phpip.net/> PGP Info: KeyID 0x168CBA4E Fingerprint 14DD 0899 8FE4 1C16 9561 FA2A 1ACB CA91 168C BA4E ________________________________ From: php...@li... Hi Booker, For phpip version 4.2 and above the following options do not need to be enabled within the php.ini file. register_globals = Off register_long_arrays = Off I have verified this configuration on my QA servers running the demo and the new test 4.4 code along with my production at work. Any other comments or suggestions about running 4.2 on an apache server that has php configured not for global variables? Thanks, Booker -----Original Message----- From: php...@li... Hi Chris, Depending on other setups, the local user is either not setup or is duplicated and this is causing the blank screen. Can you post a list of the user accounts listed within the table users?
