Hi,

Great improvements in phpIP over the last 6 months,
keep up the good work, very glad you have added CIDR
support.

In the environments I work in, rarely do we have
equally divided prefixes within our CIDR blocks .. so
only allowing prefixes that are even divisions of a
block doesn't work for them .. within a /24 we might
have several /29s, /28s, etc ..

I saw that I could make the smaller CIDR blocks the top
level of IPs but then the prefix is the CIDR block so
the two tier menu just becomes repetition :).

ipPlan is a project you have probably heard of, it
supports areas and arbitrary subnets within them, might
want to check out that program for examples of what I
mean.

Your interface is overall very intuitive and definitely
very easy to use .. more flexibility with subnetting
would be excellent.

    suggestions please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Hi Max,

I have updated part of my development code for phpip http://vw.vermeer.org/phpip-4.4/ please check out the new CIDR add page. I feel this is what you are looking for regarding arbitrary subnets. I would suggest using the back button to add other ranges within the CIDR block until I have upload the new prefix add code.

    Thanks again,

    Michael

reconsider how you enter your data.

if you enter your /24 prefixes under a large CIDR, maybe a /16, you can start to add your prefix to that /16. that prefix would be the 256 addresses you are interested in. use the prefix, instead of making a /24 cidr.

once added, you can then view 256 addresses all at once in a single page, marking different /25, /26, /27, /28, /29 ....etc by using the subnetmask field.

here is what i do. at the edge of the small subnets, i set the subnetmask to the dashed line option ---------

between the ------- fields, i then select the different subnetmasks for the subent which is between the lines.

    -kreg
