phpInv seems like a nice and useful little application. Just what I was looking for for my spring cleaning. But I'm having problems using other browser apart from Netscape. But I'd like for Opera to work, which is the browser I prefer. Neither Opera nor Konqueror logs me in correctly. That is, it seems to work, I get the "Successfully logged in" message, and are promptly directed back to the screen where I started, complete with the login fields. The same happens when using Opera or IE on Windows. Any idea why?

I've tested phpinv with netscape (linux), opera (linux + win) and ie (win) without any problems loging in.
*) Maybe your accessing phpinv through a proxy which caches the site ?
*) Does the session hash change when you successfully logged in ? It has to be different after you're logged in!

Obviously something is not quite right at my site then. I am running squid on the server, but have not used it for a while since I can't really see any performance increase. Just now I tried stopping squid just in case and do a test from IE. The initial page I'm directed to is;
/phpinv/category.php?hash=
After typing my admin name and password the page:
/phpinv/user.php
is loaded and then redirected after a few seconds to:
I have no idea what's going wrong there cause it's working with NS but not with IE. Let's try some stuff:
*) What happen if you try to login with a wrong password or username ?
*) Are you able to login on my demo site (http://phpinv.sourceforge.net) with your browsers ?
*) Which version of opera and IE are you using ?
bye

Ok, let's see.
Wrong password/username gives me an error message: "Error: Invalid login". That makes sense.
The demo site is behaving exactly as my own, I can login with admin/test, it seems to work, but I have no access.
Browser versions:
IE: 5.5
Opera (Linux): 6.0 Beta 1
Opera (Windows): 6.01

Hi
Now I know what you are talking about. I checked IE 5.5 and IE 5.0 on WinNT and Win98. On WinNT it works without any problems but on Win98 I was not able to login successfully.
Unfortunately I have no idea what's going wrong :(
I'll try to fix this as soon as I knwo what's not working.
bye

The windows machine I've been testing from is running Win2000. But at least you've been able to reproduce the problem after a fashion. I know how to get it to work, so there's no rush. I thought you might want to know about it though.

The username and password fields persists though, and I have no access to either the categories or the admin menu.
Netscape works fine on both Linux and Windows though..

Thanks for the bug report :-)
Any browser which useragent was greater than 50 chars wasn't able to login so this is fixed now in v0.6b.

Excellent. I'll download and reinstall. Thanks!
