I'm with Chad on this one. Although PEAR libraries can be useful, I'm
pretty sure that a lot of installations (including some of the default
installs on Macs) still don't come with PEAR set up as the default. It
seems like this would make things harder for newbies and limit the
appeal of the new version. If there was a big benefit that would be
one thing, but is it really needed?
