Well there shouldn't be any problem having both. In the config we would then have two variables, one for the inclusion of an admin page, and one for using digest authentication. This lets the end user decide how secure they want their admin page to be. If digest is set to 'yes', the need for username and pass goes away for futzing with files, though ftp is still working behind the scene.
