I'm very pleased with the week view as is.  We're using it to schedule 
series of three-hour classes, so our events have plenty of room to 
expand vertically.  Having the sidebar there makes it all the more 
useful and descriptive, in my opinion.

On the other hand, I could see how someone with more brief events and 
todos might find the space to be somewhat constraining.  I suppose this 
is another good argument for templates, post-1.0...  :)
