Just wondering if anyone here would like to split the cost of making this available as a Joomla! 1.5 Extension (Component)?
So far the cheapest price I could find was $300.00... from what appears to be a reputable programmer on Joomlancers. If I can get 10 (9 plus me) people to all chip in $30, this could be very affordable for everyone. From there, we can decide to either share it back with the phpgiftreg community or keep it private for the 10 of us.
The main added features that I'm looking for from this component are:
- Doing away with the "Families"... and rather allowing members to use Joomla's integrated User Manager for registered users to search for others. In addition to using Joomla's Registration opposed to the one included in phpgiftreg.
- Adding Images to Products, and creating a Module which will show the most recently added items.
- Taking advantage of the 1000's of free and premium templates available from the open source CMS.
- Using a third party Private Messenger for contacting other members.

Additional features that we're not included in the $300, although I wouldn't mind paying extra for are... integration with jEvents for Birthdays, Holidays, etc. Also, a plugin for Community Builder so that members can maintain a tidy profile.
I think that phpgiftreg is the best of its kind, and that's why I'm interested in using this script as a starting point for this project. If you are interested in other features that I didn't think of, I'd be willing to relist this project again with additional features for a revised price quote!

And I am using joomla 1.5 with virtuemart. What I need is an extra button next to add to cart saying "add to my giftlist " much like the extension that already exists in joomla extension page.
Nothing… I posted this almost a year ago looking for 10 people to each chip in $30. As you can see, we've had 3 responses…. nowhere near the desired 10. Not only would I need to get another quote, but at this point it might be best to integrate it as a Community Builder plugin instead of a Joomla extension.
