Just thought I drop a line about a problem - I must admit of
my own making - that I came across when taking a "look" at
the phpGedView 3.3 Alpha. I suspect one or two others may
experience the same if they, like me, are using MySQL and
test new versions of the software alongside the "live"
version to compare and contrast.
I'm sorry if this is a known problem already reported, and
please excuse the misuse of any technical phraseology.
Does the module authentication_mysql.php module for 3.3
read/write to a MySQL database differently that for earlier
version?
After having installed (in a separate directory in my
webspace) and configured 3.3, I tried to enter new users
using the "older" version (3.2.1) that is currently
"live".
Although it was indicated that the addition had been
successful, an SQL error message appeared at the top of the
"useradmin" page and no entry appeared in the list. [What
was worse, if I tried to edit any current users details,
they were "deleted" from the user list - as I have over 100
signed-up user this was a potential catastrophe.]
However, after much trial and error I have found that
directly replacing the "old" authentication_mysql.php file
with that from the 3.3 Alpha version has rectified the
problem.
I hope that this is of some help.
