I find filezilla works very well. Once connected to your site highlight the
file (or files) whose permissions you want to change, right click, select
"file attributes" and off you go...

Subject: [Phpgedview-talk] config.php file writable/read-only
Sorry I didn't make myself clearer. In Administration the screen says "Your
config.php file is still writable. For security, you should set the
permissions of this file back to read-only when you have finished
configuring your site" I couldn't find a way to make it read-only in my FTP
program, widows explorer or front page. So I downloaded it to my computer &
changed the properties to read-only then uploaded back to my website.
Can you recommend a cheap or free FTP program that will let me change the
file permission? I use EFTP & if I am doing this right I keep getting this
error:
error encountered 500'SITE CHMOD 777 / command not understood error
encountered 500'SITE CHMOD 755 / command not understood
Thanks
Dennis
