I'm coming at this from someone new to the PGV wiki, so I apologise for being blunt and maybe coming across as being critical! I am in no way belittling the work of anyone whatsoever! Hopefully, it's seen as constructive criticism! Firstly, I find the PhPGedView header which contains links to several guides too large and unnecessary for every page. In fact, I think the wiki would have a cleaner look if the links were placed appropriately under a Documentation section in the sidebar. Thus the documentation would be accessible from all pages, and the whole page can be dedicated to content specific to that page. This might be especially a problem for lower resolution monitors as the top third of the page is taken up by the header. Secondly, the wiki site icon is inconsistent with the larger icon/image used in the above mentioned header. For example, the tree used is different, the colours are different and there is no sign of the "A new look for your old ancestors" statement. In addition, the site icon has a lot of blank space to the bottom which could be made use of and the text sort of merges with the background colour of the ellipse. I notice the PhpGedView icon is also used at the sourceforge website, but where else are these two types of icons used? Anyway, I'll see if this gets a response before saying anything else! :) Cheerio Nath |
