I'm setting up a tree for someone else that has links to my own tree. As a result, there are individuals that are present in both our trees. For example I01 in tree 1 is the same as I100 in tree 2. However, the editor of tree 1 has more knowledge of this person as they are a direct descendant, so I'd like to make a link from I100 in tree 2 to I01 in tree 1. Can this be done by merging the records? If so can I confirm what is meant by "from" and "to" when creating links and merging data? Merging data "from" one record "to" a second record suggests that the "to" record will have data overwritten. In the linking instructions: http://wiki.phpgedview.net/en/index.php/How_To:Remote_Link_Individuals_Across_Websites_And_Databases#Linking_databases_on_the_same_site It sounds like the "to" data is the source from which to get the info for that individual. If this is the case, "from" and "to" have a slightly different and confusing meaning between the merging of records and the linking of records. Some clarification would be appreciated. Cheers Nathan |
