Thanks for your advice.
I found where the path to the location of the session files in the php.ini
file.
I have since changed the location of both the session and upload files as
these where set by the system initially.
Now I don't have any problems with session errors and warnings.
I have also upgraded to the latest beta version with no problems

i'm not sure what this is all about... it sounds like permssions, though...
since this is also related to php, i'd look at your php settings to see what
it
is set for as far as the location of saving session data... too late in the
dark
to go look it up, though...
