I'd say MySQL, as that seems to be the SQL program of choice - almost everyone is using it. :-) There are some pretty detailed instruction on = the wiki and enclosed with the program to upgrade from 3.x. But, IMO I'd just= start from scratch, backup the old version, install 4.x and reinstall the GEDCOM file and then copy over all the media files and such.
