EFTP should work. That's what I use. :-) Actually, sorry, I was wrong about not being able to make a file read-only on one system and then copying it to another. Windows is famous for that issue... I've had issues before where I wasn't able to change file permissions, and then a couple of hours later, I was able. That may be your problem, sometimes it takes a busy server a little time to make changes. I'm assuming you have access to some kind of panel through your host that allows you to make changes i.e., add subdomains, MySQL databases, e-mail accounts... Been awhile since I used cpanel (common panel in use), login and see if you have a file manager or such. Allows you to delete, move, edit files.
