| No, the date is part of the news item so there is not really a way to
| exclude it without either removing the entire News block from your
| welcome page, or deleting that news item.  You can perform these
| functions by logging in as an admin and going to this page.  Then use
| the "Customize this welcome page" link to add/remove blocks.  Or click
| on the "Delete" link below the "Welcome to the HALL Family Tree" news
| item.
