HI I have used phpgedview for a couple of years, In hopes getting under 10 sec performance per screen I switched to php 5. What a Difference. I was able get responses on my internal 100mhz network as quick as 45 Sec. I switched back to php 4 and was able to get 10-30 sec responses, much better. i have used 3.1 and 3.2 and could not tell any difference in speed. I do have a small gedcom database, not a multi million record one like lds.org or ancestor.com, with only 65K records. I think the culprit is the PHP interpreter. I use gallery also and it runs about the same speed, although that performance is supposed to be because of the number of albums and pictures (500, 15,000). if I could get a 50Ghz server with 50Ghz memory, then software speed would not matter.
