that's what i was thinking and why i asked which archive you downloaded and installed... it made even more sense because the gallery2 stuff is an add-on module ;) i started with the core files and am adding the stuff that i want... much easier than installing the whole she-bang and then trying to figure out how to remove the stuff you don't want ;) thanks for posting the solution... it is what i was going to tell you to try next...
