Please accept my apologies if this request has been made already, I searched and didn't see anything similar...
I would like to be able to link an existing source citation, as opposed to source id, to multiple events. I assume this would require a separate index be kept for source citations.
For example census entries. I have an 1900 US Census record for an entire family, husband, wife, 3 children. I use this census entry for source information on residence for all of them, gender, name, and age. I would like to be able to create on source record with a citation for the particular census entry (page, enumeration district, etc..), attach a media object to this source citation, and then use that same source citation for name, residence, gender, and birth date for all members of the household.
It would be nice to be able to select that existing source citation for all of those entries, instead of making individual citations for each one.
Another example is an obituary. I have an obituary that has names of relatives, and I would like to use it as the source citation for the name of those relatives. It would be nice to be able to select the existing citation instead of re-creating it every time...
Strongly support this feature request.
No work-a-rounds are satisfactory, the current setup involves unnecessary extra effort, and results in inflated GED and Mysql files.
