Soundex/Miracode is not a code that gives good results
only for English names. It is a code that does a fairly
good job of finding different Anglicizations of European
names. It does have limitations, but its worst feature
is not false negatives, but false positives.

Similarly, the other one with the long name is not as generally useful as is claimed. It was designed with
Jewish names in mind and is more accurate for those
than it is for non-Jewish names.

It is generally pretty good for any eastern European names, Jewish or not.
