#755 Privacy for Media+Notes

At the moment I have 2 complete installations of pgv 1 for public viewing with no sources/notes/media attached. The other for family members with sources/notes/media attached.

I note that you can 'turn off/hide/show'
* Show living names
* Show sources
* Enable Clippings Cart
* Show Multi-Site Search
through the following settings:
* only to authenticated users
* Show only to admin users
* Hide even from admin users

Could we please have the same feature's for
Media & Notes?

I feel that in today's society of copyright laws AND identity theft the genealogy community need to take firm action to safe guard the certificates/photo's they place on the internet in the guise of research.

From all the programs I have tried I keep coming back to pgv to showcase my genealogy and feel it is superior to all of them and would love to see these features introduced.

If I knew how I would do it for you, but alas I don't.

Hi Rhonda,

You can currently accomplish this using the Global fact privacy settings. Just add a global fact privacy setting for OBJE and NOTE and give it the level that you want.

I agree that we should have more consistency though.

That's great news that it can be done John thanks. Tried to figure out how to do this on my own but I think I need help:

I placed the following into the privacy.php file but I'm not sure if that was the right place as it didn't work
$SHOW_OBJ = $PRIV_USER;
$SHOW_NOTES = $PRIV_USER;
Could you point me in the right direction please?

Hopefully these options will be implemented in a new release :-)

It would be nice if a media item was private if any private individuals were linked to it.
