When you have a family of 13 who moved 5 times before
the children left home, it is dreadfully tedious to
enter the sequence of known residences again & again
for each child and the spouse. Almost worse later when
you want to update info & forget how many individuals
need the same update.

There needs to be a way to enter facts on a per family
basis, but with ability to deal with exceptions where
needed - eg allow individual override if one child left
home when rest of family moved elsewhere.

At the crudest level, perhaps each facts data entry
window could at least have an optional feild where user
can link to individuals that this fact applies to

Correction - adding residence facts by family group already
possible, but I would like to be able to reallocate a fact
already entered for an individual to a wider family after
the fact - eg when researching an individual, you naturally
tend to enter facts directly with that individual - even
when you realize it has wider applicability

Entering a fact for a family group currently only seems to
allocate it to the two spouses - no way to have it apply to
    the children/siblings as well

Shared facts frequently affecting multiple family members
would include residences, addresses, emmigration, media, and
    general notes

I fully support this RFE provided we find a good way to
store which family members were involved, and a good
    graphical way of editing this.

For editing, I suggest a list of checkboxes - one for each
    family member.

    Idea of the day :
Instead of duplicate/assigning some family events such as RESI to all members (not easy to implement...), a nice solution would be to show them in "Events of close relatives" list.

    Added to SVN 4.2
Family events : Emigration (EMIG) and Residence (RESI) added to "Events of close relatives" list.
To test, you have to edit gedcom config and check the new boxes.

I like the idea I've quoted above. I once worked with a genealogy program that let me link the enumerated family members to the census event. That would be an awesome feature to have in PhpGedView. There is a similar feature in the "Associate" code but it's not exactly the same thing. I'd like to see it implemented so that the children (which you specify) get a light-colored box similar to the "death of a parent" coloring, with the census event and the census information.

The research assitant allows you to do just that. The research assistant was designed for these types of problems.
