#1234 Constraining photo/thumbnail sizes in some cases

I am running 4.3.1 SVN 7304, and find occassionally the thumbnail tagged to an individual user view is a very big picture. Is is possible to use HTML height and width controls to constrain the thumbnail size (ie doesn't exceed 110x150 pixels or something similar)?

Additionally when using Multimedia Objects or Managing Multimedia the displays of very large pictures could also be constrained. For instance where Multimedia Objects displays two columns then the display of any picture object width should not exceed more than 1/3 of screen size. For Managing Multimedia which seems to display one column then the display of any picture object width should not exceed more than 1/2 to 2/3 of screen size.

Don't use the "Use main media as thumbnail" option, unless you REALLY need to.

When you're uploading media files, just let the program generate thumbnails automatically from the main image.

If I turn off the "Use main media as thumbnail" option (ie set to No), and use the create thumbnails option in Manage MultiMedia, will this correct the issue, or do I need to remove the original media and re-add without the "Use main media as thumbnail" option?

Or perhaps just go into the media/thumbs directory and delete any of the big thumbnails and then regenerate them with the Manage MultiMedia option?

Look in the /media/thumbs directory. If a small-sized image (same name as the main image) exists, just turn off the "Always use main image? " when you edit the media object.

If the small-sized image (the thumbnail) doesn't exist, you will either have to upload a thumbnail into the /media/thumbs directory, or you will have re-upload the original image and let the program create the thumbnail for you.

If you're re-uploading, you don't need to delete the original media object and its details. All you're really doing is just replacing the file that the media object in the database is pointing to.

The upload procedure lets you upload a main image as well as a thumbnail. This means that the thumbnail for a given "main" image does not have to be a miniature of the "main" image -- the two can show completely different pictures.
